Saudi ministry urges Hajj pilgrims to stay sheltered during peak heat hours

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has warned pilgrims to avoid going outside during peak heat hours to prevent heatstroke. Over 1.3 million pilgrims have already arrived in Saudi Arabia, with an estimated 1.8 million expected for Hajj 2025.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a safety advisory urging pilgrims to remain inside their tents in Arafat and Mina between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to prevent heatstroke.

The Hajj pilgrimage is set to commence on Wednesday, June 5, with pilgrims departing Mecca for Arafat and Mina. Forecasts indicate that temperatures during the main days of the Hajj rituals may rise to 45°C (113°F).

In light of the extreme weather conditions, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has emphasized the importance of staying sheltered during peak heat hours to avoid health risks.

On Friday, May 30, the Saudi Ministry of Health reported that 25 cases of heatstroke had been recorded since the start of this year’s Hajj season.

The General Directorate of Passports announced that as of Friday, a total of 1,396,644 pilgrims had arrived in Saudi Arabia via air, land, and sea. Authorities estimate that around 1.8 million pilgrims will participate in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
